You Are Worth It!

The best investment you can make is in yourself. As someone in the business of finance, you might be surprised to learn that I am suggesting putting yourself before your business, TFSA, RRSP, or even your piggy bank. By investing in yourself I mean taking the time to grow, learn, meet new people, study new material, reflect on different philosophies, and try new experiences. All this investment of time will pay dividends in the long run by helping you improve your skills, grow as a person and ultimately gain in confidence.

You may feel you are too busy to enroll in a program or course but have you considered the long term costs of not continuously learning and growing? I believe that a continuous learning mentality keeps us from being stuck in that dreaded rut. When you are not evolving, changing, and learning, you are sliding backwards. This in turn impacts your personal life and can have a negative effect on your business success.

There are a plethora of on-line business connecting opportunities and courses, but this is not the same as meeting and establishing relationships with like-minded people in the same room. When attending classes, you not only learn from the facilitator, you also learn from the experiences of others and have a common ground on which to connect. Sometimes one bit of information can shift your thinking, or one new person can open doors for you.

The Women’s Enterprise Centre of Manitoba has many learning and networking opportunities. We are pleased to announce that we will launch the Peer Spark™ program this fall. It brings together successful women entrepreneurs in their efforts to build confidence, improve their business acumen and accelerate business success. Participants develop their skills in an interactive setting, share experiences, build lasting relationships, and learn from experts in order to collectively help each participant overcome critical business challenges. Piloted by our colleagues at Alberta Women Entrepreneurs, past participants experienced an average of 31% annual revenue growth and a 30% increase job creation. I would say this is a very good investment for women in business!

You can find more information about Peer Spark™ on our website or by calling our office at 204-988-1860.
