Holiday Cheer | The Shoebox Project

Did December creep up on you? Believe it or not, this weekend is the last one before the rush of the holiday season. But the holidays do not need to be all stress and spending. It is a wonderful team-building, joy-building experience to band together to give back.

This year, we decided to participate in The Shoebox Project, founded in 2011 by four sisters-in-law, Caroline, Jessica, Vanessa and Katy. The Shoebox Project collects and distributes gifts in the form of shoeboxes to women living in shelters in Canada. Given the nature of our organization, we saw that helping women was the perfect fit for us this festive season.

Together we gathered a variety of small gifts to incorporate into the boxes. Bus tickets and gift cards, hand-knit scarves (made by one of our team), cozy socks, makeup and more found its way into a box. One of our most eloquent colleagues penned a lovely inspirational note to go with each gift and another used her creative talents to transform a length of ribbon into a perfect festive bow. We all had a part in a project that helped us each reflect on the meaning of the season. We have learned that giving to others out of kindness and not obligation is the key to sanity and happiness during this busy season.

We would love to hear what you are doing this year!

Beautiful wrapping by a creative member of our team!
