Meet our New WECM Team Member Shaily Nag

We have had some exciting new changes at the Women’s Enterprise Centre of Manitoba including a new addition to WECM’s Client Services team!

We asked our recent hire Shaily to answer three questions so we can all get to know her a little better. Please join us in giving her a big, warm welcome!

Tell us who you are:

Hello! Bonjour! Namaskar!

My name is Shaily Nag, and I recently joined the WECM team. I am from India and have a BCom degree in Travel and Tourism Management from India and an MBA from the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. After staying in the UK for a few years, I moved back to India and joined a tourism company as a Marketing Manager. Travelling has been my passion, and I have been to different destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and different parts of India. Marketing has always been a core place for my duties. I also love graphic designing, and I use this talent in helping the community around me. Visuals do play a huge role in transmitting a message and communicating things faster.

I strongly believe that to thrive in the digital marketing world, skills need to evolve continuously. I am always up to new and exciting challenges and love learning and exploring. Hence, I came to Canada in 2020 to pursue marketing in-depth and have recently graduated with flying colours from the University of Winnipeg with a Marketing Management Diploma.

I am blessed to have supportive parents and a husband who have always stood by me in every decision. I can speak English, Hindi, and Bengali languages, so feel free to request speaking with me if those are your preferred languages.

What drew you to work for WECM?

Coming from a family background that gives priority to community service, I was involved in missionary works in local communities back in India. I saw WECM as another opportunity to serve people who need support. After doing an internship at UWinnipeg, I fell in love with the work culture of Canada. I have also always been a passionate woman wanting to start my own travel company and attract more visitors from all over the world to experience the beauty of Canada and everything this country has to offer. With the same mindset of empowering women to grow in their businesses, there is no other place like WECM.

What are three local women-owned businesses you will be supporting this winter?

Here are three local women entrepreneurs I’m looking to support this winter…

Geneviève Joachim of Sunshine Travel

Robin Paisner of Frootables Winnipeg

Tiffany Tilley of Little Mouse on the Prairie

I am very excited to be a part of the WECM team, blending both my knowledge and experience; I look forward to learning more and supporting Manitoba women in their entrepreneurial journey!
