Job Opportunity – Loan Portfolio Manager
The Women’s Enterprise Centre of Manitoba is looking for a financial whiz to fill a one-year term position as our Loan Portfolio Manager. You are a lending expert with a strong customer service mindset and a desire to help women entrepreneurs successfully start and grow their businesses. This is a multi-faceted position that requires a range of skills including: the ability to analyze business plans; the skills to assess and evaluate loan applications; and the tenacity to manage the collections process and bankruptcy situations. Your attention to detail will ensure the preparation of accurate documents for new and re-financed loans and your understanding of lending best practices will guide the development and implementation of new and efficient loans procedures. On top of all of this, you will be a skilled networker who understands the value of connections in support of women entrepreneurs.

JOB SUMMARY:
To manage the loan portfolio and process new loan requests in a professional, customer-service oriented manner that is supportive of the needs of women entrepreneurs in Manitoba; to oversee business development and to manage the overall performance of the loan portfolio in accordance with the Centre’s Loan Policy; and to manage the loan portfolio, administration and collections.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Loans Management and administration
- Assess and evaluate loan applications from WECM clients
- Prepare all documentation for new and re-financed loans in conjunction with Loans Administrator
- Manage the Centre’s loan portfolio, ensure the Centre’s policies and procedures are followed according to established guidelines and make recommendations for improvement
- Manage and oversee the collections process and any bankruptcy situations
- Develop, amend, analyze and implement new loan procedures and policies as appropriate
Loan Portfolio Diversification
- Network to develop business relations and to promote the Centre
- Diversify the loan portfolio where possible
Privacy Policy
- Adhere to WECM Privacy policies
Management Team
- Provide advice and support to the CEO in regard to loans and lending issues
Administrative
- Manage the Loans Portfolio budget and update the loan database as required
- Respond to loan client inquiries in person and by telephone, e-mail or fax
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Small business lending experience
- University degree in commerce or other relevant discipline, and/or equivalent experience
- Experience working with a wide range of companies in a variety of sectors, and diverse cultural communities, and with women establishing and expanding their businesses
- Experience marketing business financing to potential customers, packaging financing from various sources, negotiating in a business environment and managing a diverse loan portfolio
- Experience with Canadian and provincial banking policies and regulations (loan types, terms, security, collections); government financing sources, and women’s business issues
