Located in Treaty 2 territory and situated in the Parkland region along Highway #5, Kelwood is a tiny village with BIG heart! Home to the annual Harvest Sun Music Festival (which has switched to an online format this year) this buzzing rural community brings much entrepreneurial energy to everything they do. We have dedicated an entire day of this week’s #ManitobaMondays feature highlighting some very special women entrepreneurs and attractions in Kelwood, Manitoba.
Stop #1 | The Kelwood Store
Calling all antique and collectibles fans! The Kelwood Store owned by Jen and Zak Asmundson is a perfect place for finding your next unique item or treasure. They are open Saturdays from 11AM-4PM.
Stop #2 | The Farmer’s Daughter and Cafe 37
Need to refuel? There are two amazing women-owned restaurants in the town of Kelwood, MB and both are perfect spots to catch a bite to eat!
The Farmer’s Daughter run by Connie Dafoe located in the Kelwood Barn.
You will likely be greeted by owners Anne and George Poschadel if you pop in to Cafe 37 located in downtown Kelwood.
Stop #3 | The works of Kathy Levandoski
Three words: count the quilts! Explore the town of Kelwood, MB while finding 36 (and counting!) painted barn quilts courtesy of prairie-based visual artist Kathy Levandoski.
Stop #4 | The Mountain General
This general store and gas station is conveniently located right off Highway #5. It is a great place to take a break from the road and relax while stocking up on all your excursion supplies. While refilling your tank you can grab some coffee to go as well as explore the selection of locally made snacks, groceries and more!
If you are in town on the weekends, shop local and check out The Mountain Markets on Fridays and Saturdays. Bonus: every Saturday they host morning Yoga in the Kelwood “Quilt” Garden!
