How do you define business success? For each business owner, the answer is different.

Kristina Poturica, owner of Rituals in Hair and Skin, understands the importance of the question. Says Kristina, “The way you structure your business and the decisions that you make will be different depending on your goals. Are you in it to be a millionaire or to satisfy an inner need?”

Starting a business is the first phase, but determining how the business will grow and how to manage that growth are other issues that emerge. Rituals in Hair and Skin opened in 2003 and the company has grown to include 11 staff. To better balance her own workload, Kristina has learned the art of delegation and appreciates the need to contract out parts of the business that can be more easily handled by others.

“I hired a business consultant when I started and since then I’ve contracted out my accounting and bookkeeping — both good decisions that have contributed to my success.”

For now the focus is on controlled growth and ensuring a plan is in place to manage the changes it brings. “I’m taking the time to consider the options and make thoughtful choices because I want the growth to be sustainable.
