Looking for Leaders

We are looking to round out the skills and experiences of our Board of Directors. Do you have entrepreneurial and leadership skills that you would be interested in contributing to the Board of Directors of the Women’s Enterprise Centre of Manitoba?

The Centre is governed by a Board of Directors who bring with them a diverse range of skills and abilities. Their role is to provide governance and policy direction which is the foundation used by the CEO and staff to evaluate and implement programs and services. The Policy Governance® model used by the Centre was developed by Dr. John Carver and enables the Board to focus on larger issues, delegate appropriately and evaluate the outcomes. It doesn’t get involved in the day-to-day operation.

Our by-laws indicate that at least 60% of the Board must be individuals who currently own or who have had entrepreneurial experience. We rely on them to provide the entrepreneurial perspective and share their experiences at board meetings (there are six each year) and on one of two standing committees.

We are looking to add two new members with previous board experience to our talented board. If this sounds like something you would be interested in learning more about, please send your resume to the Chair, Nominating Committee by April 7. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by our Nominating Committee and official appointments will take place in June at our Annual General Meeting.
